This is a fun game! At first when going into it, I thought I'd be able to endlessly duplicate, but once I realized how it worked with shadows it felt much more interesting! It connects well with the story in how duplicated things feel 'slightly wrong' to characters.

I enjoyed the puzzles! I think the highlights definitely were the one with the low energy salt machine and the last puzzle--the salt one being a good one to get you to think outside the box and the last one being a great overall one that makes you use a lot of what you learned. I think the pacing was good overall too, definitely felt like I was learning how the game worked at a solid pace.

Overall, great job! I don't think I have any constructive criticism on gameplay--I think it's good right now, and there's room to add more and continue it if you want. And of course there's always room to refine things as you update.

I'm glad I played this game! Thanks for making it :)

thank you so much for the feedback I'm glad you enjoyed it !

Solid puzzles! At first I got a bit frustrated, because I got stuck when I "spent" all the energy of the machine, and couldn't find a way to restart it, but after coming to the comments I saw that I just needed to press 'R'.

After that, things went smoothly. I love how you didn't made the tutorial mandatory, and left to whoever needed it, to read the book. I say this because I felt that the mechanics were really intuitive.

Love the concept of using the shadows to duplicate items, the overall theme of the game and execution! Amazing!

thank you Spaguetti I love your nickname !

Fun game, The art style is also fine, though I'm wondering whether it would look better to have folded corners on your book as buttons to switch pages instead of the arrows, but the arrows work fine anyway. The music is good, and the concept is interesting.  Having a small button on screen for resetting to allow for the full mouse only experience would be nice, and like st4ng said, navigation with WASD or arrow keys would also be nice to have for those who want to use it.
It took me some time to realize, that the shadow was the indicator of things that could be duplicated, but the mechanic has another small problem which you may not have considered.
In the last stage, you can manipulate stuff with the machines, and none of them change anything about whether an element has a shadow or not. In my head I thought it was impossible to beat, because I expected the resulting gold from the final machine to NOT have a shadow like all ingredients I've put into them. But it did.
All in all, the most problematic thing with this game currently is the shadow mechanic, if you can make that one more clear, then the overall gameplay experience would be much smoother.

That said, the game has a solid foundation with its unique mechanics and charming presentation. With a few tweaks, it could easily go from a fun game to a fantastic one. I look forward to seeing how it evolves!

I see, this is interesting, I will take into consideration what you said to make consistent rules in the future about whether a resulting item has a shadow or not. Now that you're explaining this I understand the confusion.

Thanks you for this exhaustive review and for playing the game until the end, I'm glad you had fun despites these shortcomings :)

i love the art, not really my type of game, since it has too much text for my taste, but very clever use of the theme and great implementation

Really nice game, using shadow to duplicate obj can be a really inresting strategy.

I will put a restart button because I run out of power on one of the machine before doble it and got soft lock, anyways, really nice !

really how I regret not saying at the first puzzle that you can press R for restart !

I'm glad you enjoyed it !

This is a really well done game. The art is top-notch and the gameplay loop is solid. I actually have very little in terms of "critique" other than to echo that some sort of stronger indication of duplicable items would be nice. Even then, that's merely a nit-pick. Awesome job!

I like how you integrated the powers with the story!

I really like the game's pixel art - was this something you created yourself?

As others have mentioned, maybe having some sort of outline or indicator on things that can be duplicated would be helpful for the player.

Good job!

Yeah pixel art was made by fiancé and me

yeah, I guess telling in the first sentence of the game everything with a shadow can be duplicated is not enough

Fun game, with clever design, a cool take on the concept, and well polished ! The artwork  and sound design are a standout, and the story makes for a good link between the puzzles. The concept is simple and efficient, and is used in clever ways, making you think outside of the box instead of just redoing what you just learned.

Good job !

Cool idea! The shadow twist on alchemy worked great.Always fun to tinker and experiment with machines!

Clever design, I like it! Took me way too long to figure out I can duplicate the salt purifier though, only to find out in the next level I cannot always do that. In general it wasn’t clear to me, when I could duplicate something or not. Also, navigating with WASD between the screens would be nice. Overall nice game, good job! 👏

Damn why didn't I think of that, using wasd to move from screen to screen. I was so obsessed with the game being mouse only I totally overlooked this option.

You're not the only one to tell me everything is not very clear, the core mechanic is you can duplicate everything with a shadow. I guess I should have made a better tutorial.

I'm glad you liked it, thanks you for your comment !

Oooohhh, now I see it, duplicate everything with a shadow, makes sense! Maybe put a short “How To” in the description.
